We've been to Eiffel Tower before, but we wanted to bring our kids there, you just have to go there if you are in Paris. The long queue's is a testament that a lot of people share my feelings. Unfortunately my kids were not one of them. They were not excited at all and were dragging heir feet in the morning.
Opening hours starts at 10am and I had planned to be out by 8.30am so I will be there an hour before it opens and would not have to queue for long. As it happens everyone of the Lee boys including my husband had the urge to go to the bathroom just as we were leaving and we were delayed for half an hour. We were there at 9.30 and the lines were already long and winding.
By the time we went through the bag checks, bought tickets and into the lifts to the 2nd floor it was 11.30 in the morning. It took 2 hours. Of course on the second floor there is another line to queue up to the top, it was confusing, we were actually in the wrong line as there is a ticket line for tickets so we wasted like 15 minutes there.
I like to be on top of the Eiffel Tower, I do. I think I could spend hours taking pictures here. My kids were not impressed and after 5 minutes smiling at the camera they started the chorus of "can we go now!!??"So after all this trouble we were only up there like 10 minutes and yes there was a queue to go down as well although not as bad as going up.
Next we head up to Jardin Des Plantes in the 5th district. Its a park that was adjacent to a small zoo and a natural history museum, but first we headed to a mosque behind the park that has a famed Moroccan cafe "Cafe de la Mosque". It was a lovely cafe and we ordered a little to much for lunch, as per any decent Parisian restaurant or cafe, they do take their time and our orders eventually arrive by 2pm. They have a nice selection of Moroccan snacks as well.
So we crossed the road into the park and walk through the shaded paths lined with seats and let our kids played for awhile. Then we went to the small zoo adjacent to it call "Menagerie du Jardin".
